ABOUT THE EVENT

SEMINAR OVERVIEW
This day will be split into 4 different sessions. Each session description is listed below. You’ll attend each of the 4 sessions throughout the day, changing rooms for every session.

Session 1: “Annual Fire Door Inspection Training” This presentation will provide an overview of how to conduct annual fire door inspection requirements, strategies for remediation of non-compliant issues and on-going management of openings. Learning Objectives: Understanding annual fire door inspection requirements and how inspections are conducted. Recognizing common issues making doors non-compliant. Reporting requirements. Remediation strategies.

Session 2: “Intro to Firestop and Barrier Management” Learn the basics of Firestop presentation (why, how, when, what), how to source a firestop system and how that system is install /maintained (hands on training with provided mock up).  Learning Objectives: • Key concepts of fire protection • Firestopping Applications • Firestop Testing Standards • Interpretation of System Nomenclature • Types of System Ratings • Categories of Firestop products • Install Examples

Session 3: Life Safety Dampers. When and Where Required, Testing Requirements in Hospitals and Other Facilities, and Required Documentation”  Learning Objectives: Knowledge of life safety dampers, required testing frequency, and required documentation.

Session 4: “Rated Wall Repair: Drywall Assemblies” Demonstrate how to repair rated drywall assemblies.  Learning Objectives: 1. Penetrations from conduits/pipes. 2. Punched holes from av wiring.

PRESENTERS
Session 1: Kevin Ness, CFDAI and Ryan McLachlan, AHC, CFDAI, ASSA ABLOY Door Security Solutions  Kevin is an End User Specialist with ASSA ABLOY Door Security Solutions. He has forty five years experience in the door, hardware, and security industry, specializing in the Healthcare, Government, and Military markets. He is a Certified Fire Door Assembly Inspector accredited by the Door

Hardware Institute. Ryan is an Architectural Hardware Consultant (AHC) and Certified Fire + Egress Door Assembly Inspector (CFDAI), as accredited by the Door Hardware Institute, with over 20 years of experience in providing consulting and project management expertise for door opening solutions. He manages a national team of consultants focused on delivering professional services, technologies and processes for supporting the successful design, construction and on-going management of facilities.

Session 2: Daniel Schmidt and Austin Opgenorth, Hilti  Dan is a Senior Fire Protection Specialist for Hilti North America focusing on Firestopping and Intumescent coatings. Dan has spent the majority of his career as a Project Manager working in both the residential and commercial construction industries. Since joining Hilti in 2017 Dan has worked closely with MEP subcontractors, life safety contractors, general contractors, building owners and the inspection community to effectively plan and provide code compliant life safety solutions.  

Session 3: Dave VanZuiden, JF Ahern  As Commissioning Manager and Engineer for Ahern, Dave is responsible for designing HVAC and process systems, as well as seeing projects through to successful turnover to the owner by system commissioning. Dave works closely with other Engineers, Architects, Owners and construction personnel to provide the best project solutions with the most cost-effective approach. Dave joined Ahern in May 2018. Prior to joining the company, he was employed by IMEG in Middleton, Wisconsin as a Senior Designer for two (2) years. Prior to employment at IMEG he was employed at Affiliated Engineers in Madison, Wisconsin where he held the position of Mechanical System Designer for five (5) years. Dave has also worked for Henneman Engineering in Madison, Wisconsin.

Session 4: Mike Conway and Luke Fochs, The Boldt Company  Mike Conway has been with Boldt for 22 years well seasoned in the Health care projects. Luke Fochs has been with Boldt for 3 years is also seasoned in the Health Care projects.

CANCELLATION TERMS:

The registration fee must be paid in full by the beginning of the program. There will be a $50 cancellation fee if cancelled after May 1st. There will be no refunds once the copy of the PowerPoint slides has been sent to the attendees.
