ABOUT THE EVENT

The Healthcare Construction Certificate is a one-day seminar designed for contractors and hospital construction supervisors to provide knowledge of issues pertaining to construction in a healthcare environment. The attendee will receive a certificate of attendance, hard hat decal, wallet-size proof of certificate and a link to a pdf copy of the presentation PowerPoints. This seminar will be of interest to all contractors, their construction supervisors, facility managers and the staff of the engineering and maintenance departments. It will focus on healthcare construction and the operation of its critical life support systems and provide a refresher to the various code and recordkeeping requirements.

PRESENTERS

Jeff Eckstein, AIA, ASHE, J.H. Findorff & Son, Inc., Director of Business Development, Healthcare. Jeff is a registered architect, has worked in facility planning for 2 major healthcare systems and has over 30 year’s experience in healthcare planning, design, and construction. He is also Co-Chair of the WHEA Code Committee and is the recipient of the WHEA Robert H Botts Healthcare Engineering Pioneer Award and WHEA Founders Award for Outstanding Service.

David R. Soens, PE, RA, Life Safety Fire Authority, Division of Quality Assurance. Dave is the Departments Fire Authority to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for Life Safety. He is the physical environment technical consultant for acute care, long-term care, and assisted living programs. Dave assists various committees to improve code alignment through ASHE, NFPA, and WHEA. Lastly, his 23 years of experience assist waiver and variance requests for unique building configurations.

Marilyn Michels, MSN, RN, CRRN, CIC, FAPIC, has worked in infection control for over 40 years in various settings. She is currently an infection preventionist at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse Wisconsin. She has presented on numerous topics related to infection prevention and developed an orientation program for infection preventionists that was introduced to numerous health care facilities across the state. She has responded to numerous events related to construction and renovation through the years. She has witnessed the impact the health care environment has on a patient’s risk for developing an infection due to poor planning, design, execution and maintenance.

Rick Helfrich, CHFM, CHC, Plant and Facilities Project Manager for SSM Health Fond du Lac Region. Rick is currently on the WHEA State Board, is a WHEA Codes & Standards committee representative, serves as the WHEA ASHE Advocacy Liaison, and has over 20 years of experience in the facilities healthcare setting.

Bob Dubiel, CHFM, CHC, BS, Project Manager, Marshfield Clinic Health System & WHEA Chapter V and Code Committee Representative. Bob has been in healthcare for 30 years serving in Facilities at Stanley Hospital, Mayo Clinic Health system Eau Claire and currently at Marshfield Clinic Health system. Bob started healthcare as a maintenance technician and for the majority of his career he served in management roles in Facilities and Projects.

PLEASE NOTE NEW CANCELLATION TERMS: A fee of $50 will be charged to any cancellation made 2 weeks before the program date. There will be no refunds after the program virtual binder pdf file link has been sent to attendees. If the program is cancelled for any reason, refund is limited to the program fee.
